We’re giving away one Teeny-Tiny but still pretty colorful calendar and a set of six Hand-printed Calligraphic Thanks cards to one lucky Twitter follower. The winner will be chosen at random on January 11th.

Today, Friday, December 9th from noon until 9 pm, is the grand opening of popuphood, an awesome new retail venture in downtown Oakland. Popuphood consists of six new shops which were given vacant retail spaces in Old Oakland for six months rent free. Assuming the shops succeed, they’ll be offered the opportunity to extend their lease. We’re really excited to be a small part of this great project; our cards are available at Crown Nine.
On December 1st, we’ll be selling our cards and more at West Elm in Emeryville! There’s only a few vendors, and they’re all pretty fanasttic: we’re very excited to have been selected! Handmade Holiday Workshops and Mini-Markets will be taking place at all West Elm locations on Thursday evening, so if Emeryville isn’t your local store click here to see who’ll be selling near you.
We recently had the pleasure of working with singer/songwriter Gabriel Goldstein on his excellent album Sad Stories & Cautionary Tales. The cover features a painting by Adriana Atema, which we treated for silkscreen printing. The album itself is pretty fantastic, definitely worth listening to if you’re a fan of the folksy.
This summer we worked on some fabulous, and pretty elaborate invitations. We illustrated dozens of San Francisco symbols and landmarks for table numbers and escort cards, and set some pretty fancy type. It was a challenging project, but was a ton of fun to work on. The pieces were beautifully letterpressed with edge printing and lined envelopes by the wonderful Studio on Fire.
The wedding — shot by Lori Paladino Photography — looks like it was pretty awesome too. And, we’re pretty psyched that this morning it got written up on Style Me Pretty’s Little Black Book Blog!
Owen and I began Design des Troy as a side project, a creative outlet separate from our already pretty-creative day jobs. In the past 5 years, it has grown, our work has matured and we’ve been able to take on a larger variety of clients. So, I am taking the leap and focusing on Design des Troy full time! I am thrilled about the opportunities this will afford us, the ability to take on more work and continue to grow and develop our product line. We’ll also be printing like mad, gearing up for two big sales this holiday season, Bazaar Bizarre and Renegade Craft Fair. Owen enjoys the challenges of “wearing two hats,” and will continue his work as a creative director at Speck.
If you have a project you’d like to discuss — some wedding invitations, a book, or maybe a new branding project — please contact us!
